Over 1.1 million layoffs hit US employers through November 2025 (shit! 620 tech jobs a day!) and it's the highest earners getting cut, not the newest hires.
Messed up thing is, 2026 won't fix it. Half of companies already have hiring freezes in place, and a freeze today is just a layoff that's a little bit slow. Meta grew headcount 50% in three years, then cut 21,000 people when the bill came due. Peloton waited so long to act it had to slash a fifth of the company in one shot.
On the other hand, there's Elvie Caparonis. She was laid off from a big tech job in 2024, except she'd already been building an audience while she was still employed. She turned it into a six-figure coaching business and a LinkedIn Top Voice title the same year she got cut. Soooo….. there's a couple of paths you can choose…
